Teachers from the Czech Republic, Italy, Romania, and Portugal came to the EDINN project training week at Tavastia Vocational College in Hämeenlinna. EDINN is an Erasmus+ project and its name covers “Educate to Innovate.”
The STEAM curriculum and events in the program and the education tools have been provided by the Experience Workshop.
The project aims to integrate art and design in the teaching of sciences, which is a condition to innovation and provides a chance for economic growth in the poor areas all over the world.
Lecturers Eeva Kulmanen and Tuula Katajisto and Development Director Arto Ruhala were hosting. Tavastia specialists Piritta Malinen from Kauriala High School, Anu Konkarikoski from Vocational College and Riitta-Liisa Joutsenlahti from Vanajavesi Opisto were the trainers as well as Kristòf Fenyvesi from the University of Jyväskylä and Matias Kaukolinna from the University of Helsinki.
The 2nd year tourism students offered a good program for the international guests at the Aulanko Park. As guided by students, guests were given the opportunity to try snowshoeing, mölkky game, sauna bath, stickbuns and sausages, and taste Finnish delicacies, such as Karelian pies, bread cheese and cloudberry jam, rye bread, salmiakki liquorice and mämmi, Easter rye and malt pudding.
The project develops STEAM methods in teaching in each country. Activities will continue with project meetings between teachers and students in Portugal, Italy and the Czech Republic.
